67 Miles to Phoenix ......

We had another beautiful day for a ride -- in the lower 50s when we rolled out at 7:30 AM and 78 degrees when we got to Phoenix. The elevation was a resultant downhill, although there were ups and downs along the way. I had a little more energy today and was able to hop on the wheel of the fast group and arrived at the hotel fairly early. Of course, the rooms weren't ready and our SAG vehicle hadn't arrived with the luggage yet.
My photos today show the Margarita party from last night. The tradition is to have Margaritas every time we pass into a new state. We had postponed the party a couple of days because several people were feeling under the weather. The woman with the cowboy hat is our guide. The 3 women in another photo were the guide and our 2 SAG drivers who support us with food and water on our rides. The other photos are of cacti. More of those to come, I'm sure.
Arizona is on Mountain time, but because they don't do Daylight Savings Time, we are still on California time until we enter into NM.
My son, Andrew, who now lives in Boulder, is in Tucson right now doing a 3-day stage race. He's going to meet me in Globe, AZ., on Sunday on his way back to Boulder. He'll have dinner with our group and maybe be able to ride a few miles with me the next morning before heading back to Boulder. Details on that later. I still have to get through the next 2 days.

  1. Hi Jeanne, I have been following you and am attempting first comment. Great job on the ride and the blog! Photos of Arizona bring back memories of trips to visit former in-laws. Hope the hook up with Andrew goes well.
