We got on the Historic Bikeway and crossed the Colorado River (again, we last crossed it at the California/Arizona state line). I took a pic of the bridge we rode across as well as the River itself. We then entered Bastrop State Park and rode on the park road for approximately 12 miles. Unfortunately, due to a single cigarette in ~2011, there was a forest fire that destroyed the trees. We could see a lot of stumps where they have cut down a lot of the burnt trees, but there are still a lot standing. The park road wound around and there were miles of steep rollers (we can't seem to shake the hills).
Because our ride was relatively short today and our hotel is about a mile from the town (La Grange's population is just over 4,600), some of us rode into town for lunch. There was a town square with shops and a couple of restaurants. We totally overwhelmed the poor woman who took our order, did the cooking, etc., etc., when 15 of us showed up.
I also took a pic of the countryside we rode through to show you how green things look right now. We rode by lots of farms/ranches and cattle. It was a lovely ride.
Jeanne, from the picture the road surface looks pretty rough. Is it? Love your pictures of the countryside. Looks really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKeep pedaling girl! You are rocking it!
The green is thrilling, because it's just turning here. Amazing to see your picture of it lining the water, in full glory.
